Academics
Our Curriculum
We teach to the total child, stressing attitude, responsibility and study habits. We feel the above characteristics are the keys to success in education. Our students are very self-motivated by junior high. Our graduates go on to attend Cardinal Newman, Montgomery, Maria Carrillo, and Santa Rosa High Schools. Our graduates do very well in high school because they are self-directed learners who know how to manage their time and effort. We follow our graduates' mathematics, English and reading grades into high school, and they do very well with many winning top academic awards. We are also very proud of the leadership of our graduates. Many serve in student body positions and are active in Christian service projects.
The Diocese of Santa Rosa has adopted the National Common Core Standards. St. Eugene's is implementing the Common Core in math, English and reading. The Common Core standards are rigorous and challenging. Our students are becoming stronger mathematical thinkers, able to read more challenging text and developing excellent writing skills.
The curriculum of St. Eugene's School combines the traditional academic disciplines within the larger domain of Catholic/Christian culture, faith and values. Our school's curriculum is flexible enough to embrace life's experiences, yet strongly follows the developmental patterns of children's growth. We believe in meeting each child's needs as best we can through a variety of teaching styles and learning modalities.
